Spain 1/2 to beat Ukraine in Tuesday’s Nations League matchup

Market: Spain win

Odds: 1/2 @

Looking to continue on their unbeaten start to this year s Nations League, Spain will make the trip to a struggling Ukraine on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Ukraine might have shocked many across Europe as they stormed their way to next year s delayed European Championships, they have struggled to keep up that momentum since opening 2020. While the Yellows might have managed to open up this year s Nations League with a 2-1 win against Switzerland last month, Andriy Shevchenko s men were hit with a 2-1 defeat against Germany over the weekend and Ukraine now find themselves in the midst of a three-match losing run, their worst run since June 2016. Now shipping 13 goals on that losing run, including a 7-1 drumming at t…

Copa Libertadores Preview: New ground for under-pressure Nacional

Nacional are in danger of missing the Copa Libertadores group stage for the first time since 1996 as they prepare to host Oriente Petrolero.

In last week s first round first leg, a blistering strike from Gualberto Mojica gave Oriente a 1-0 victory at home in Bolivia.

Oriente will head to Montevideo on Tuesday knowing a 2-1 loss would be enough for them to advance at the expense of Nacional.

It would be a huge shock for Nacional perennial challengers for South America s premier continental club competition.

Nacional have won the Copa Libertadores three times (1971, 1980, 1988), while they made the semi-finals as recently as 2009, but having qualified as Uruguay s third-best team this year, they were forced into a play-off to earn a spot in the group stage.

Spain international midfielder David Silva has signed a new five-year deal with English Premier League champions Manchester City F.C.

The 28-year-old, who has won six major trophies English Premier League (twice), Euro 2008, Euro 2012, FA Cup and World Cup (2010) for club and country is absolutely delighted to commit his long-term future to the reigning league champions.

Premier League move ´very possible´ for Jonathan David amid Man Utd and Arsenal links

Jonathan David says it is very possible he will be on his way to a Premier League club in the near future amid reported links with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.

The 22-year-old has starred for Lille this season with nine goals in 15 games and caught the eye in his three appearances for Canada at the 2022 World Cup.

David previously described England s top flight as the best league in the world and he has now confirmed he expects to play in the division soon.

I think it s possible, very possible, he told La Voix du Nord. I don t know if I can find myself anywhere other than the Premier League. It could well be the Premier League.

It s a very nice atmosphere. In England, when I watch the matches, every stadium is full each time. As a player…

Unfortunately, Keisuke Honda’s Milan dream has turned into a nightmare

Keisuke Honda s time at Milan has been nothing short of a disappointment for the Japanese star. (Photo: Getty Images)

In January 2014, Keisuke Honda fulfilled a childhood dream when he signed for AC Milan. Many players wax lyrically about achieving a long-standing ambition when they make a move to another club. For most, it s just part of the spiel in their unveiling, but for others, it s actually the so-called gospel truth.

One can imagine that for Honda, it was the latter. And from a marketing perspective, signing the Japanese international appeared to be a major coup. After all, Honda is arguably among Japan and Asia s biggest names. Milan, of course, have a massive fan-base in the Far East, and as such, the excitement from supporters in the region was significant. Y…

Coleman: Moyes should grasp Sociedad chance

Chris Coleman has told David Moyes to take the vacant Real Sociedad job, should he be offered the position.

Moyes has been out of work since his ill-fated tenure as Manchester United manager came to an end in April, less than a year after he took the job.

Speculation continues to link the Scot with the Sociedad position, with the San Sebastian club having dismissed Jagoba Arrasate last week after a poor start to the Liga season.

And Wales boss Coleman, who managed Sociedad between June 2007 and January 2008, believes the position would present a great opportunity for Moyes to rebuild his career.

If I was speaking to David I d say take the job , Coleman said. They have incredible fans and the city is absolutely crazy about the club.

It was a grea…

No changes as Brazil confirm final Copa America squad

Dorival Junior has stuck with the same 26-man squad he provisionally selected for Brazil s 2024 Copa America campaign.

Juventus Bremer, Atalanta midfielder Ederson and Porto forward Pepe were all called up when CONMEBOL announced the squads were being expanded from 23 players to 26.

The Brazilian had already had to make changes after Manchester City s Ederson was ruled out due to an injury sustained at the end of the Premier League season, with Rafael brought in to replace him.

Lucas Paqueta also keeps his place after the Brazilian Football Association (CBF) confirmed he would be allowed to stay with the squad despite being charged by the England Football Association (FA) for allegedly breaching betting rules.

Malaga 1 Real Madrid 2: Isco downs struggling former side

Isco s first LaLiga free-kick and a Casemiro tap-in earned Champions League semi-finalists Real Madrid a 2-1 win at Malaga on Sunday, nudging the Spaniard s former side closer towards relegation.

Zinedine Zidane left stars including Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale out of his squad after Madrid survived a dramatic fightback by Juventus in midweek, with Marcelo and Toni Kroos named on the bench.

But despite the changes made by the Frenchman, Madrid eased to a fifth consecutive away victory in all competitions thanks to a sublime showing from the increasingly influential Isco.

A fine free-kick from the playmaker that curled away from Roberto Jimenez was the 25th set-piece goal scored by Madrid, more than any LaLiga club this season, giving Zidane s men a first-ha…

Swansea City 0 Chelsea 1: Blues keep Champions League ambitions alive

Chelsea kept their hopes of a top-four finish alive and dented Swansea City s survival bid with a 1-0 win at the Liberty Stadium.

In a game of precious few chances, it was Cesc Fabregas superb fourth-minute strike that proved decisive – his 50th in the Premier League.

Andre Ayew curled wide for the hosts late on, but they rarely looked like finding a leveller against opponents who comfortably kept them at arm s length throughout.

The win lifts Antonio Conte s side just two points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, who face Watford at Wembley on Monday.

Swansea, meanwhile, are just one point ahead of 18th-placed Southampton following Mark Hughes side s 2-1 win over Bournemouth earlier in the day.

Carlos Carvalhal s men now have three games to preser…

Everton 3 Burnley 1: Barkley, Lukaku to the fore as Toffees extend winning run

Ross Barkley ended a difficult week in positive fashion as he helped Everton make it eight Premier League home victories in a row by overcoming Burnley 3-1 at Goodison Park.

Playmaker Barkley, who was assaulted in a Liverpool bar in the wake of Everton s win over Leicester City last time out, celebrated in the crowd after his deflected strike beat Tom Heaton in the 71st minute.

After a tepid first-half display, Ronald Koeman s side clicked into gear three minutes after the interval Phil Jagielka s third goal in as many games putting Everton ahead.

Burnley failed to make the most of some good chances prior to half-time, though Sam Vokes made no mistake from the penalty spot following Joel Robles calamitous error to restore parity.

But, on the 28th annive…
