Iniesta named player of Euro 2012

Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta has been named the best player of Euro 2012, UEFA announced on Monday.

The 28-year-old started in each of Spain s six matches at the Euros and playing a leading role in his team s campaign in Poland and Ukraine which culminated with a 4-0 thrashing of Italy in the final.

Iniesta, who was chosen by the 11-man technical team of UEFA, grabbed one assist in the 551 minute he was on the pitch at the Euros.

He is also part of UEFA s 23-man Team of the Tournament, which contains 10 players from Spain and four from Italy.

Golden Boot winner Fernando Torres did not make the cut, most likely because he played only 189 minutes, with Mario Balotelli, Cesc Fabregas, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Silva the five attacke…

Marseille win race for Qatar 2022 breakout star

Marseille have struck a deal to sign Azzedine Ounahi after clubs from across Europe targeted the midfielder who dazzled in Morocco s World Cup semi-final run.

Ounahi was pivotal as Morocco became the first African team to reach the last four at a World Cup, catching the eye as the Atlas Lions saw off Spain and Portugal before falling to France.

The 22-year-old will leave Angers to join fellow Ligue 1 outfit Marseille for a fee reportedly of around €10million, having previously been linked with the likes of Napoli, Leicester City and Leeds United.

Both clubs announced a deal was in place on Saturday.

Marseille, who sit third in the table, said in a short statement: Olympique Marseille announces an agreement in principle with Angers for the permanent sign…

Robert Huth Believes Having N’Golo Kante Greatly Helped Leicester City Win 2015/16 Premier League Title (Video)

Having barely escaped relegation the previous season, Leicester City stunned the football world by winning the Premier League title in 2015/16. Robert Huth, who formed a physically formidable centre-back partnership with Wes Morgan, believes it wouldn t have been possible without the presence of N Golo Kante acting as a shield ahead of the back four.

Broncos vs Browns Thursday Night Football Picks and Predictions: Both Teams Struggle on Short Week

The Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns hobble into Thursday Night Football, battered and bruised and fresh off ugly losses in Week 6.

Cleveland will be down key starters on both sides of the ball and, most importantly, Baker Mayfield as Case Keenum gets set to start under center in primetime.

Find out how Keenum and injuries on both sides will factor in with our free NFL picks and predictions for Broncos vs. Browns on Thursday, October 21.

Denver Broncos Odds, Predictions, and Betting Preview 2022: Wilson's Arrival Doesn't Come Without Trials

The Denver Broncos finally got their guy in Russell Wilson after what felt like three seasons of every disgruntled quarterback in the NFL rumored to be headed to Mile High.

Wilson joins the arms race of elite QBs in the AFC West and is free from the constraints of Seattle’s offense, which often had its quarterback fighting against the tide. An unleashed Russ is complemented by a competent defense for the first time since his Super Bowl runs.

The NFL odds suggest the Broncos will need all of it if they’re going to survive not only life in the deepest division in football, but a schedule that sends countless contenders at Denver, including a home stretch that looks like the top of the Super Bowl futures board. Oh, and the Broncos are working in…

Giants vs Lions Preseason Picks and Predictions: Expecting a Giant First Half

The New York Giants and Detroit Lions will kick off their 2023 preseason on Friday night at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

Both of these teams were a pleasant surprise last season with the Giants going 9-7-1 and the Lions going 9-8 despite their preseason win totals being set at 6.5 wins apiece. They’ll both be looking to continue that positive momentum into this season with several young stars on each side.

Typically, the first preseason game of the year for NFL teams will not feature any of the established starters. However, both of these teams have some young players that will be fighting for playing time and the coaching staffs will want to see them in game action.

I analyze the point spread and total and give my best NFL picks and pre…

Week 9 NFL Teaser: Have Faith in Hallowed Saints

Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s teaser time!

I was the one who was teased last week after thinking the Kansas City Chiefs were a virtual lock to cover their teaser leg in Denver against the Broncos, but it wasn’t to be, and the loss brought my teaser record to 4-4 on the season.

That, unfortunately, is the way she goes when betting on NFL odds as there truly is no such thing as a lock. Every possible area of a game can line up toward one side, but the teams still have to play the game, and occasionally, we get the exact opposite result of what our NFL picks strongly anticipated would happen.

We live to bet another day and another teaser though, so we’ll look to bounce back as Week 9 odds have a handful of great-looking options to get us bac…

Veteran Lance Lynn looks for first win in 2024 vs. A's

Lance Lynn attempts to trace the footsteps of fellow veteran righty Sonny Gray and break into the win column as the visiting St. Louis Cardinals go for a second straight victory over the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night. Pitching at the site of his early career success, Gray dominated the series opener for six innings, shutting out his former team on four hits in a 3-1 Cardinals win. Lynn (0-0, 2.63 ERA) is coming off a strong effort, having held the Philadelphia Phillies to one hit over five innings of what turned into a 4-3 loss last Wednesday. He has allowed earned runs in just one of his three starts, including opening his season with four shutout innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers. With Lynn following Gray, who missed the opening of the season with a hamstring injury, in th…
